1. What are the 5 freedoms of the 1st amendment?

student speecg cannot be cesnsored as long as it does not "materially disrupt class work or involve substantial disorder or invation of the rights of others.

beacuse school officials have an "intrest in teachin students the boundaries of socially appropriate behavior" "they can censor students speech that is vulgaror indecent, even it it does not cause a "material or substantial disruption"

4/18/11 Notes

Journalism: The telling of current events that are news worthy through newspapers, amgazines and internet.

                                                Criteria of newsworthiness. 
                                          
1 Timelyness- Current.

2. Prominace- Well known / important people and their actions.

3. Proximity- Events which occur near us.

4. Significance- The larger the vent and the more people that are affected by it.

5. Unusualness- Events which dont occur often.

6. Human Intrest- "Fell good stories"


                                 What are the advantages of print journalism?


3. A lot more tangable.


                            What are the advantages of broadcast journalism?
1. Much more current.

2. Able to hear it and see it.

3. more accesable, mostly free.


          Why has online journalism (convergent media) become so popular? 

Its the best of both types of media. Its got the wtitten and the broadcast factor.

2. You controll your information, and how much information you get.
